Gunfire erupted early Saturday at an Atlanta nightclub party sponsored by Jermaine Dupri and attended by music stars Usher, Nelly and Sean "Diddy" Combs. A security guard was reportedly wounded.

"I'm sad this incident happened because it interrupted a beautiful and loving party. But I'm happy none of my people or friends got hurt. And the party continues," Dupri tells PEOPLE in a statement.

The shots were fired at about 3:30 a.m. at the party at Dreamz ATL after some guests were allegedly double-charged by security guards to enter, DeKalb County police spokesman Marcus Hodge tells WSBTV.

Rowdy guests were escorted outside, where the shooting occurred, Hodge says. A club security guard was shot in the arm. He was treated at a hospital and released, Hodge says.

The party also was attended by actresses Gabrielle Union and Regina King and actor Larenz Tate.

"I didn't hear the shots, but around 3:30 a.m., everybody started ducking," party guest Nigel D. of realtalkny.net tells PEOPLE. "Nobody really knew what happened. It was dark in the club. And everyone was trying to get out of the VIP area, but there were so many people no one could really move."

An announcement was made that the sound wasn't shots but a bottle popping or a speaker problem, "But people, including the celebs, were still trying to leave, so I don't think anyone believed them," he says. "I got outside, and the cops shut the club down. No one inside could leave and no one outside in the parking lot could leave either. One of my friends was stuck inside the club and people were scared that the shooter was still inside."

The King of the Midwest and the King of the South are teaming up for a project that will go down in history. In an exclusive interview for the Summer 2008 issue of Rap-Up, Nelly revealed plans for a joint album with T.I.

“We talked about doing a joint together, a whole album,” the St. Louis rapper disclosed to the magazine. “It’s not about just selling records for me anymore ’cause I’ve done that. It’s about making something that people will remember.”

The two chart-toppers are trying to recruit a third artist for the collaboration as well. They last worked together on T.I.’s “Show It To Me” off 2007’s T.I. vs. T.I.P.

The Country Grammar MC also shared his thoughts on his Southern friend’s run-in with the law, saying, “We all make mistakes. I’m not a judgmental person. I may not agree, but I’m not going to judge you for it because we all gotta be accountable and we all gotta take responsibility for the choices that we make. But be that as it may, I’m not going to stop being his friend because he made a mistake. I think that’s when you need your friends the most, when you have made a mistake.”

Gary Sinise and Co. are taking a little detour to Nellyville this fall.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that rapper and occasional actor Nelly is joining CSI: NY for a multi-episode arc. The Grammy winner will play a club owner who serves as a confidential informant to Mac and his team.

"He's a great actor," gushes executive producer Pam Veasey of Nelly, whose only major thespian credit to date is 2005's The Longest Yard. "He really stepped up."

In other CSI: NY news, in a piece of stunt casting that has the words "Danny/Lindsay montage" written all over it, Maroon 5 will make a cameo in this season's second episode, airing Oct. 1.

Sean John Underwear has hired hip-hop artist and University City native Nelly as its new celebrity spokesmodel, the company said Monday.

Advertisements, shot by Randee St. Nicholas, feature Nelly wearing underwear and loungewear inside and outside a modern home overlooking Los Angeles.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Nelly is Sean John's first underwear model, but Sean "Diddy" Combs' clothing line has used Dwayne Wade, Nas, Snoop Dogg, Lil' Wayne, Penelope Cruz, Cassie and Lauren London as models in the past.

"To me, Nelly is the quintessential definition of the Sean John man," Diddy said in a statement. "He has the attitude, the swagger and most of all, the physique that our customers can both aspire and relate to. And let's be honest, all of the ladies out there are going to be thanking us for this campaign. The images are so strong; they speak for themselves."

Sean John has annual retail sales in the United States of more than $525 million and is sold in specialty and department stores, including Macy's.

Sean John Underwear and loungewear is manufactured and distributed under license by Basic Resources, which is headquartered in New York.

Nelly also has an endorsement deal with Reebok and plans to open a multimillion-dollar athletic facility in Maryland Heights with NBA guard and fellow St. Louis native Larry Hughes.

*Mariah Carey, Nelly and Nas are among the artists tapped to perform as part of the second annual Samsung AT&T Summer Krush, a free summer concert series designed to highlight Samsung's music-centric BlackJack II mobile phone.

The concert series kicks off July 31 in Los Angeles with an approximately 35-minute performance by Carey at the Hollywood & Highland Center. Portions of the concert will broadcast later that evening on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

Rapper Nelly is scheduled to perform Aug. 19 at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, while Nas will perform at Webster Hall in New York on Aug. 27.

The 17th annual V100 Jam 4 Peace sponsored by WKKV-FM (100.7) will return to the Bradley Center on Aug. 16, with a lineup that features rapper Nelly and support acts Soulja Boy, The-Dream, Trey Songz, V.I.C. and Day 26.

The event again will focus on the problem of urban violence. Local officials will speak, and a giant screen will show a scrolling list of names of local people murdered since the beginning of the year.

Program director Bailey Coleman said in a statement: "While violence unfortunately is around us, this concert's aim is to draw attention to that violence and at least for a small moment in time say enough is enough, let's do something, let's have peace!"

Nelly has apparently said he doesn't want to be put up as a role model for young fans.

The hip-hop artist, who has caused controversy in the past for his raunchy lyrics and videos, told The Independent that rappers shouldn't have to set an example for children. He believes role models should be people in the child's life.

"Role models should be someone that's in your life on a daily basis, someone that's prevalent in your life, that you can see not just on television," he said.

"The only thing that kids see is that person's success. That's it."

Nelly also revealed that he would not consider changing his image or toning down his songs to please people.

"If I did that, what would I be telling the kids? To let society dictate you as a person?

"Sex sells. But I can't let society dictate to me as an artist. That's not what an artist does."

The 30-year-old's fifth album, Brass Knuckles, is out next month and features cameos from Usher, Akon and Ashanti. Nelly told the newspaper he is convinced the record will be a success: "I'm back, it's going down, there's no time to play!"

--(Hip-Hop w/ Tabitha & Napoleon - "Party People," Fergie f. Nelly) Is it really possible that a dancer should get the same dance style two weeks in a row? How freaking lucky can Comfort be to get hip-hop for the second week in a row after her stay of execution. This routine was a little sloppier than I would have liked at the start (mostly from Mark), but it had some good elements and I enjoyed the storytelling element of it. After that sick lift/toss the entire performance stepped it up a notch and wound up pretty damned good.

Nelly's "Pimp Juice" energy drink is being distributed in France and Sweden. The brand was launched in Paris last week at a talent showcase featuring several top French DJs. Talks are also underway for "Pimp Juice" to sponsor French basketball leagues.

Meanwhile, "Pimp Juice" has become the official soft drink sponsor at all MTV events in Sweden.

Fillmore Street Brewery, which manufactures and distributes "Pimp Juice," is planning a major U.S. and European promotional push to coincide with the September 16 release of Nelly's new album, "Brass Knuckles."

Nelly has compared Amy Winehouse's struggles with drugs to the public battles of other legendary musicians, including Michael Jackson.

The rapper, who said he wished the singer the best, was answering questions posed to him from Myspace users. He said people don't understand that Winehouse “has to go through what she's going through” to produce her music.

“Music is what it is because she goes through what she goes through.”

Nelly went on to say that every musician has a “weak link,” we wonder what his might be?

“You look at Jimi Hendrix, you look at Michael Jackson, these are the greats, this is what happens,” he said.

“Marvin Gaye had, you know they covered it up a little bit for Marvin but Marvin had his battles. You think he sung the national anthem with those sunglasses on because it was a fashion statement? You know what I'm saying, like no, he was gone.”

Wino is hardly able to even appear onstage without slurring her way through every song, so if what Nelly's saying is true, her next album is going to be a belter!

Well if ya'll remember yesterday I posted up that if you wanted a chance to ask Nelly a question yesterday you could via webcam on Much Music's Music On Demand since Nelly was going to be on the show yesterday...well I finally found someone who had the cam and time. Her name is Cheryl and she was so excited and happy to have this chance! And thanks to a fellow fan by the name of Esha, who is located in Canada and was able to view Much Music's MOD (since a lot of us are in the states and elsewhere couldn't see)...she typed up a summary of the show for us. Read below and let us know what you think. We're working on getting a video of this interview w/ the webcam moment with Cheryl.

All I have to say to other fans, just make sure to read here everyday or on our messageboards because you never know when these kind of opportunities could happen again...especially short notice.

He came out told him that his video would be on the way and then they started asking how the atmosphere on the set was with his girl Ashanti there. He just said she was the main girl in the video and it's different and she understands that is who he is and what he does, so their relationship is based on a lot of understanding. They spend their time together by hanging out. Nothing special, not flying all over the world but just relaxing and hanging out.

Talked about Applebottoms. Working on a couture line, more upscale.. he wants to take his time establishing it like he took his time with Applebottoms. He acquired the license to True one of the first hip hop clothing lines.

Talked about being an entrepreneur and the fact that if you don't make the money with different things, like acting, clothing line, albums then others will take that money from you. And being an artist is about falling down and getting back up. Cookie cutters are about being manufactured when you don't take chances.

Cheryl came on, told her that on behalf of all his fans at nellyfans.net, Monica, Amanda..he's looking good. And then he started asking her about her being from Austin. And how he was born in Austin, she didn't know that. Said that he was raised in St. Louis but was born in Austin. And then she asked her question about how he came about the name, Brass Knuckles. He said that Brass knuckles was the best way for how hard the album was gonna come. In a symbolic way. If he feels someone is coming after him, he's not afraid to punch 'em in the face. He ain't gonna bother you if you aint gonna bother him.

And then some chick came out of the audience and said she modeled and gave him a picture of her pretty much naked except wearing suspenders covering her nipples. And then the hosts asked him if he got that a lot, and he said that he got it pretty frequently and he definitely appreciates everything.

So check this out, DaVibe a long time fan who's been on all of Nelly's official sites and part of the NellyFans aka DemBoyz family in supporting Nelly had the opportunity to perform the song 'Country Grammar' with Nelly on stage...at his show in Canada this past weekend. Here's the story he typed up for us, let us know what you think (photo included) and video coming soon. If you'd like to read more on Nelly's appearances in Canada, check out the messageboards.

So Nelly is on the left part of the stage and Kyjuan, Slo and Ali are spread out … the track comes on for Country Grammar … “Boom Boom Boom, HI MISS!” (clean) … he’s like “Did you hear that? It sounded like someone was knocking?” …

The beat comes in again and gets cut off with Nelly’s cue of “Hold on, hold on” …

“I want to see who knows this … I want a dude … somebody who bought Country Grammar” … “I need a dude who knows Country Grammar!” and he’s looking (at the wrong part of the stage) for “that person” …

I’m thinking to myself “Man, that’s gonna be crazy” but also thinking “Wow, some fan is going to enjoy that” and also thinking “That should be me!” but also thinking “No, I should let someone else enjoy that, I already enjoy a lot” etc … seriously, all these thoughts ran through my head … even “Do I still know all the words to Country Grammar?” …

Nelly kept on about how the person would have to know “All the words” … it was funny …

So anyways they’re looking around and my friend is like “Yo, that’s all you dude … that’s all you” and the girls around us knew we were there for Nelly .. so they start pointing at me (who’s standing on the chair) and I’m waving and my friend is pointing at me … Ali comes over my way and stands right in front of me on the stage and takes it all in … see’s the shirt, see’s the dude, see’s the people pointing … points at me … “You?” kinda look … then he’s waving me up … yeah, he’s waving me up …

“We got one …”

Nelly stops looking, Kyjuan stops looking … Ali has got it … IT’S MEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

I jumped through the people, I didn’t even care who was standing on the chairs … jump over the gate, weirdly jump on the stage (cause no one was there to help) and BAM I’m facing the crowd. Folks are cheering, takings pics, smiling … I can see the whole damn crowd.

Nelly says what up , shakes my hand … starts talking to me in front of the crowd on the mic …

“What’s your name?”

Me: Robert … DaVibe
Nelly: “DaVibe?”
Me: Yeah …
Nelly: Aiight … where you from?”

Me: Right here … right here …
(Meanwhile, I’m flashing my shirt, flashing my back that says DaVibe) … my shirt said Derrty ENT on it, airbrushed …

At one point, Nelly went “Whoa” at the shirt (when I was showing it off) and even said “Look at the shoes” and it was his Derrty ENT’s … he noticed! LMAO

ANYWAYS … he’s like “You know Country Grammar … you bought it” … I lean over and tell him (but in the mic) …
Me: I got it in the clean version, the dirty version … I got it

Nelly’s like “Oh okay, the clean version, the dirty version …”

And then it was basically like “Aiight, lets do it” and the beat come on … BOOM BOOM BOOM … HI MISS
UMMMMMMMMMMMM I’m GOING DOWN DOWN BABY …

With Nelly helping out doing the ad libs, I did Country Grammar on the stage (first bars up to the chorus repeated) with Nelly and the St. Lunatics …

When I was done, I stepped off … Kyjuan shook my hand, gave me the pat, passed me a handful of mixtapes … Nelly’s dude (helper/tour person) came and got me on the side and shook my hand … was like “Dude, you did good” I’m like “Thanks, it’s been a long time … a long time” …

Took me into the back, because it was still early they let me leave and head back to my seat …
AND THERE IT IS … I got a chance to meet and perform with Nelly

Mariah Carey, Gavin Rossdale, LeAnn Rimes, Nelly and Nas, among others, will perform as part of the second annual Samsung AT&T Summer Krush, a free summer concert series designed to highlight Samsung's music-centric BlackJack II mobile phone.

The concert series launches July 31 in Los Angeles with an approximately 35-minute performance by Carey at the Hollywood & Highland Center. Portions of the concert will broadcast later that evening on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

Samsung AT&T Summer Krush continues Aug. 7 with a performance by former Bush frontman Rossdale at the Showbox in Seattle, followed by an Aug. 13 appearance by Rimes at Gilley's in Dallas. Rapper Nelly is scheduled to perform Aug. 19 at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, while Nas will perform at Webster Hall in New York on Aug. 27.

The concert event continues to visit 1,000- to 2,000-capacity venues through mid-September with three additional artists, who will be announced shortly. Each show will feature music by Los Angeles-based DJ Matthew Sullivan.

A limited number of free tickets for the concerts will be available through radio promotions, artist fan clubs, street teams and online registration at samsungsummerkrush.com.

Bow's next album, Pedigree, is slated to drop toward the end of the year. (He's a fourth-quarter staple.) DJ Khaled, T-Pain, Lil Wayne, T.I., Swizz Beatz, Soulja Boy and Nelly are all on the LP, and collaborations with R. Kelly and Chris Brown are in the can as possible other cuts. Before the album's release, however, we're going to get a plethora of music and a theater tour. He's putting out two volumes of the mixtape, titled Half Man, Half Dog, with DJ Infamous, as well as three official singles. (And this is the same Bow Wow who said in June that acting, not music, was his top priority!)

The Microsoft Zune, you may recall, was the hottest technology must-not-have of 2006, and it’s gone on to sell more than 700 units. The artists will be featured in short “Webisodes” in which they tell the Zune-hungry public about all the fantastic music that they have on their totally not-unsexy Zunes, which they would totally be caught dead with. Somehow, hats will be involved.

Team USA Gets Soundtracked by Sheryl Crow, Nelly | 0 Comments

Sheryl Crow, Nelly and 3 Doors Down are among the artists that have recorded exclusive tracks for the upcoming AT&T Team USA Soundtrack, a collection of songs that hope to motivate American Olympians at this year’s Games in Beijing. Also contributing songs are Colbie Caillat, Kate Voegele and Army of Me. All proceeds from the soundtrack will benefit Team USA. “It’s my job as an artist to encourage others through music, and I’m honored to work to support Team USA through this soundtrack,” Sheryl Crow said. Swimmer Michael Phelps, who won eight medals at the last Olympics in Athens and will just qualified for eight events for this summer’s competition, said “I know this soundtrack is something we will all be able to enjoy while we’re in Beijing and will help motivate us to compete at our very best.” As it’s sponsored through AT&T, customers of that phone service will have first dibs on ringtones of these songs. The songs themselves will be available for download throughout the Games, from August 8-24.

Well word is out and confirmation was made by Terrell of MiddleChildPromotions.com, who interviewed Nelly on his album Brass Knuckles last month, that the album has been pushed back yet again. The new date is set for September 16, 2008.
